Pakistan is home to almost two million blind people






Pakistan‘s blind cricket captain Zeeshan Abbasi was once a shy and awkward child who relied on his family and friends to get by in a country where disability is a major stigma.



Growing up in the mountainous northern Ayubia district, his earliest memories are of clutching his mother’s hand as they climbed a winding path to a school where he was never fully accepted.



But having recently led his team to the final of the World Cup and triumph in a series over traditional foe India, he credits cricket with turning his life around.



“If I didn’t play cricket, I would have not enjoyed this status as a national celebrity. My blind friends are unable to do anything and have become a burden for their families,” the 30-year-old said.

The ICC World T20 2014 will be held in Bangladesh from March 16 to April 6. This is the fifth edition of the T20 World Cup . A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament. The qualifying phase will have a total of eight teams vying for two spots in the Super 10s. There will be two groups with four teams each for qualifying games in the T20 World Cup. Brian Lara dating With Jamey Bowers former Miss Scotland

West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara is reportedly dating former Miss Scotland Jamey Bowers . The batting great was introduced to Bowers, who is 20 years his junior, by former Manchester United and Trinidad and Tobago striker Dwight Yorke. “It’s early days. I didn’t want anyone to know, but Brian’s been declaring his love all over the place,” the Daily Mail quoted Bowers as saying in the Edinburgh News. “He’s charming, romantic and fun. We’ll see what happens.” Lara, 44, is considered one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He holds several cricketing records, including the highest individual score in First-Class cricket, with 501 not out for Warwickshire  against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994. Lara also has the record for the highest individual score in Tests, scoring 400 not out against England at Antigua in 2004.

Danish Kaneria is a bowler who conjures up images of a leg-spinner with a frog-like action in most Pakistani fans’ minds; sadly, he has now faded into obscurity thanks to his involvement in the infamous 2009 spot-fixing scandal in English County cricket. The man who once was hailed as one of the most promising players to have emerged from the Pakistani cricket stables now sadly is fighting a losing cause in order to acquit himself of the charges leveled against him by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) five years back and the life-ban imposed on him has already stalled a career which once upon a time looked rosy and promising.
