Franchises relieved with IPL schedule


An easier and more relaxed travel schedule, familiar playing conditions and more freedom to fulfill sponsor obligations are some of the major advantages of the IPL's decision to conduct the first, and if need be middle, phase of the tournament in the UAE and Bangladesh, according to franchises.





With just 16 matches being played in the first phase in the UAE, franchises say they are much relieved after anxiety over the past few weeks over the overseas venue and schedule. A substantial part of that edgy feeling, franchise officials have pointed out, emerged from the nervousness of their sponsors who were eager to know if the displacement of the tournament overseas would affect the activation exercise of their brands.

ICC World T20 2014 Points Table and Team Standings

The ICC World T20 2014 will be held in Bangladesh from March 16 to April 6. This is the fifth edition of the T20 World Cup . A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament. The qualifying phase will have a total of eight teams vying for two spots in the Super 10s. There will be two groups with four teams each for qualifying games in the T20 World Cup.

IPL 2014 Opening Party

A gala dinner will be hosted in the UAE ahead of the seventh season of the Indian Premiere League (IPL), instead of the usual opening ceremony. Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Deepika Padukone are set to perform at the event . Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, who is the son of the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi, will host the gala dinner on 15 April at the Emirates Palace and it will be attended by Bollywood celebrities and several other VIP guests, according to Emirates 24/7. SRK, co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise, will host the evening. Khan is busy with the shoot of his upcoming films but will take time out to attend the gala dinner and watch the first 2014 IPL match between Mumbai Indians and KKR. The highlight of the gala dinner will be SRK, Nene and Padukone's performances.
